The crocus is essentially known as a Spring flowering bulb, although some varieties can flower in Autumn and Winter.

The Spring crocus flowers February to April and the Autumn crocus flowers August to October.
All crocus have wine glass shaped flowers and very narrow leaves.

Crocus flowers in many different colours.
They generally grow in clumps to a height of 3 to 5 inches.

The bulbs can be planted to a depth of 3 inches in September-October (Spring flowering) and July (Autumn flowering).

Crocus prefer well drained soil in sun or partial shade.

They look very pretty when planted in groups at the foot of a tree or shrub as well as in a rockery, border or container.
