I brought my clematis with me when I moved to the farm and it had been in a pot and didn’t look like it was ever going to flower. I planted it next to the arched wooden seat that backs onto the orchard. Although the leaves and stems were growing it did not flower and then last Summer it was accidently dug around breaking the stem close to the ground. That was it, this clematis was never growing to flower. Yet last night as I took the washing off the line, something purple caught my eye in the apple tree.
What was it? On closer inspection I realised that my clematis had actually survived and had now flowered high above in the old apple tree.
