The Khaki Campbell ducklings are nearly 3 weeks old and have grown alot and are doing well. They have been outside in a brooder with the heat lamp on and during the last few days the heat lamp has been turned off during the day. As the weather is warm the heat lamp is not necessary and last night they didn’t have the heat lamp. This morning I transferred them to a run under cover where I will keep them for a week or so until they are big enough to free range. Then they will be housed in the hut I have renovated in the orchard at night. I intend to get a duck pond for the orchard so that they can have a swim and a splash about every day.
Here are three of the ducklings who have only just come out of the incubator and are only a day old.
Given the opportunity, ducklings, like ducks, love to swim. Here are the day old ducklings having a swim in a bucket.
These photos show the seven ducklings a few days later. It is amazing just how quickly they grow.
I have taken a video clip of the ducklings having a swim so I will try to get that posted soon. I will also take some more photos so that you can see just how much they have grown.
I have Muscovy and Welsh Harlequin ducks. The Muscovy is on eggs but I have learned along the way to never count your “Duckling” before they hatch!!Comment by Diane – June 10, 2008 @ 1:58 pm

I fed my khaki campbell ducklings waterfowl chick crumbs upto 6 weeks of age then I have been feeding them a growers pellet. If you go to your local farm store they will be able to advice you.
The smallholder range is good. Here is a link to the waterfowl chick crumbs I fed my ducklings. http://www.smallholderfeed.co.uk/poultry/9.htm
Hope this helps. Kind regards

thanks for visiting farmingfriends. You are doing right, ducks need to be fed adlib so food can be left before ducks at all times. It is a good idea to keep the feed and drinker close to each other as the ducks tend to take a drink in between feeding. From point of lay onward your ducks can move to layers pellets.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
