I now have over a hundred laying quail on the farm and as you can imagine I am really busy at the moment looking after the quail, collecting the eggs and trying to sell all the quail eggs.
My husband, Steve and I are really pleased with the packaging we have designed and the name Hugo House is after my husband’s Grandfather who was a butcher and farmer and lived on the farm that we now live on. Unfortunately I never got to meet Steve’s Grandad but I am sure that I would have loved him and wish that he could be here now to see all the animals that I have returned to the farm.
My brother-in-law thinks it’s funny how they spent years slowly getting rid of the animals his Grandad had and now I am bringing them back to the farm, he often wonders what animal will return next!
I am beginning to supply farmshops and delicatessens with my quail eggs as well as some pubs and restaurants.
Today I also managed to organise a pitch at a local Farmer’s Market so the third Saturday in September I will be calling out, “Roll up, roll up, get yer Hugo House Quail Eggs here!”
Thanks for your kind words last Wednesday when my old dog died. She could have told you many stories about stroppy cows and calves!

Thanks for dropping by. Yes the eggs do sound a bit posh! I was very sorry to hear about your dog. It is terrible when you lose a beloved pet.
One ear the cow is certainly stroppy!

Funny thing.. I was thinking about you and the blog you wrote a while ago. You were not sure if you should market your Guinea fowl eggs as a specialty eggs or not. I was going to write to ask what you decided. Now I see you are marketing you quail eggs in a big way.. Good for you I think it is a great idea and a great name!

Thanks so much for dropping by. I have missed your comments and visiting your blog. I hope that you are keeping well and that your critters are well too!
Yes I decided to market the guinea fowl eggs as speciality eggs along with my quail eggs and next year duck eggs.
I have got over a hundred quail so they are keeping me very busy and I am learnig a lot about animal husbandry.
It took us ages to come up with a name but we are pleased with Hugo House. We wanted something catchy but something that related to the farm and Hugo was Steve’s Grandfather and a farmer. I am sure he would have enjoyed show me how to keep my ever expanding list of animals.
Keep in touch Diane.
Best Wishes
