Daily Farm Update At Farming Friends 20/02/09

It was a busy start to the day with the cattle.

Cats – Stripe was limping this morning and has been feeling under the weather all day but I have been keeping an eye on him.

Cattle – A calf was born early this morning. It is a small bull calf so it was easy calving for the cow but we were a little worried that it wouldn’t be able to stand and suckle. The other calf that I helped to calve is a big calf and doing well. It was tagged this morning and has been turned into the fold yard with it’ mother.

Ducks – Got 6 duck eggs this morning and took an order for 12 hatching duck eggs. I am currently designing a label for selling duck eggs for eating.

Guinea Fowl – A couple of the male guinea fowl were facing up to each other. Charlie, one of my original three guinea fowl was one of the them and the other must be trying to undermine his authority.

Guinea Pig – Gave Guiness lots of carrot peelings today.

Hens – Got a hen egg in the hut this morning and one in the duck hut.

Pigs – The pigs are growing well and have good markings. The gilts will be excellent for breeding.

Quail – Got lots of eggs from the quail today so the weather is definately warming up.
