She hatched them all and left the nest. Two hatched later and the adults are not here to take care of them. One died and the other was almost completely hatched out and I brought it inside as the ants were coming to it. It is too weak to eat or drink on its own, so I have been mixing starter with warm water and force feeding it every couple of hours during the day. It seems to be walking around a little better today and pooping OK but still not eating or drinking on its own. It hatched out Sat. morn. Is something wrong with it? Janis"</p> <p>Hi Janis,<br /> Sorry to hear about the guinea fowl and the keet that didn't make it. Hope your other keet is ok. Do you have the under a heat lamp, if not I would make a brooder using some bricks as edging or in a box and add something on the floor such as straw or carpet or towelling so that the keet keeps warm and doesn't get splayed legs. </p> <p>Keets like to have warm water and I put marbles or pebbles in the drinker so that the keet can still drink but nit get head in and drown.</p> <p>I would continue to feed the keet as you are doing but I would also place the keets beak into the food dish so that it knows where the food is and can start to peck on it's own.</p> <p>I would also hard boil an egg and feed it the yolk if it will eat it and yoghurt mixed with chick crumbs is also an option as the yoghurt is easy to get the keet to peck at.</p> <p>Watch out for pasting up on the bottom as keets can often get their droppings stuck to their bottom and then as the droppings collect they get poorly and this can be fatal for them.
