Home wanted for 2 Indian Runner Drakes

I bought 4 indian runner ducklings earlier this year, which turned out to be 3 boys and 1 girl. Everything was fine while they were young, but they have all decided to try and mate with the girlie, which was very distressing for her and I had to separate them. Now the white runner is being to get a bit aggressive with me, chasing me when I go to put them out and again when I fill their feeders, so I have taken the hard decision to try and rehome 2 of the boys, I did have someone who showed interest and promised to come and see them, but never bothered turning up and got back in touch to say they wanted them and would come again, which never happened. I want them to go to a good home only which is proving to be difficult as I'm worried about someone taking them for 'dinner'.

Could anyone give me some advice, or would anyone be interested in giving them a home.

Hi Denise, this is a difficult situation as runners and also campbells are really difficult to keep as multiple drakes unless there are no females present.
You don't say where you are located?
Have you tried the various places to advertise them? as someone might be prepared to have them on an allotment for instance, in order to keep down the slugs and snails etc. You could try having two seperate goups if you have the space.

    Hi Sarah

I'm based in Kent. i can't have 2 groups as we are plagued by foxes and they are kept in a large pen with the chickens during the day to ensure that they are all safe. I'd worry all day otherwise.

Your best option is to try advertising them at the above sites, in your local shops or the local allotments and here on FF. http://farmingfriends.com/forums/forum.php?id=19
I know the problems you have because i have had them as well and now only have two drakes, kept seperately with their females. Fortunately we dont have fox issues.

  5. Denise, im thinking I may have the same problem next spring as I have 2 drakes and it seems no one wants drakes, if I have to sell one i'm thinking i may get a couple of girls to then sell on as a trio
