Ok, I dont think im bonkers, all you chicken owners out there. Do your chickens make a specific noise when they have laid an egg, loud and happy noise. I have explained to my partner and he agrees it is a specific noise. He was at work with his work mates (he is a carpenter doing a roof near some chickens) and there was a chicken, singing her egg song. and he told his work mates about the egg song, they thought he was barmy, now he thinks im fibbing that there is no such thing!
please help regain my sanity.....or prove that i am crazy :(
Thank you guys!!!

I reckon it isn't a "happy song", just a big sigh after all that hard work ... :-)) ... but here it's not just the hens bragging about their dropping, the cocks join in and just about everybody is commenting, even animals in neighbouring pens ... throwing in the guineas for good measure it's quite a circus. Everybody gets excited about it ... I currently still get about 3 dozen eggs per day inspite of moulting season, so it can be a bit noisy here; just waiting for the hounds to follow suit!!

Hello Kojak, My Goodness , What on earth do you do with three dozen eggs a day? As for the hounds hope they do not start singing , I have heard them !!
Pink Poultry , everybody knows that if Mama says it , it is true !! Regards MamaGoose GirlPosted 2 years ago # -

Mama, we eat some ourselves, pass some on to friends and colleagues and the rest ... goes to the dogs ... :-) ... and chicks.
The hounds certainly do sing on their own account, it's lovely and melodic and they have different howling patterns (e.g. family members only, mamadog calling her offspring, group howl for everyone); the packhounds sound best followed by the nordic dogs. At bottom are ranking some non-howlers who sound rather pittiful!Kojak

Kojak,
That sounds fascinating!! Are you on facebook? You should video it and put it on facebook. Animal choir, everyone celebrating the egg laying.

Ha ha ha, people probably think you have a duck in your bag! You should open your bag and say "shhhh" loudly and see what funny looks you get then! xxx

Hi pink poultry,
Yes my hen's do call out when they are laying and before they lay and when they are looking for a nesting site they make a funny repetitive noise.
Guinea fowl make a funny cry out when they lay their eggs, not surprised as the shells are so hard, must smart abit!!!
Best Wishes
