Saddleback sow has piglets 4th litter

(5 posts)

  1. Hi All,
Just to let you know that my saddleback sow, Lacy has had her 4th litter of piglets. 15 piglets. Started yesterday afternoon, first born 3.50pm and last sometime after 7pm, not bad eh? BUT had to put them all in a box as Lacy snaffles the piglets and couldn't reunite them until after 1am and then it didn't happen straight away and then had to wait for them to suckle. Went to bed at 5am this morning, so if I haven't replied to any comments, my apologies and will get to it soon.
Lacy only has 14 teats so need to keep checking all piglets are growing and getting milk! Just waiting for Cagney to farrow now!
Thanks to everyone who contributes on this forum it is great to see your comments, responses, photos and questions.
    Kind regards
    A tired Sara @ farmingfriends

  5. Hi galfarmer,
Welcome to the farmingfriends forum. I am located in East Yorkshire in the UK.

    Hi Mama,
Thanks for your kind words. I love coming to the forum to see who has visited and left a comment.
Lacy was a clever sow giving birth to so many piglets, with only 14 teats Ihave had to hand feed some of the smaller piglets. Just to say that this is an old post and Lacy gave birth last year and the piglets are now a year old themselves! Sadly I nolonger have Lacy and I miss her very much.

    Hi Topveg,
Thanks - I think these are large litters for a saddleback! I love the Saddleback breed.

Hope all having a good weekend.
    Best Wishes
