I scrammed my Charley off her eggs as I wasnt sure if she was eating and drinking, i did this once a day-every day. I thought if she got off herself then this would be ok. She was funny though, I would push her by the bum (the other end pecks!) and she would just roll over, like a roly-poly! Bless her. And try to keep all of the eggs under her. So in the end-I put up with the pecking and just picked her up and put her on her feet, just in front of the nest, then she would stretch her legs and have a drink (all the while giving me evils may I add!!) And she hatched out 2 lovely balls of fluff-she was even more "pecky" when they were born, BUT if 2 new babies wasnt enough, when they were 3 weeks old, she collected all the eggs (chicken eggs, duck eggs. probably pigeon eggs if she could reach them!!) she collected them all and sat on them with a baby under each wing.....I chucked her off and locked her out so she could stop reproducing!! haha. I havnt noticed her going broody this year though, there is time yet, I wont let her sit on her own eggs as they are a mottley crew!! And then im stuck with lots of babies that no one wants to buy. Oh the dramas!!
Good luck with your sitting chickens!! Hope you get lots of Guineas!!! awww. Guinea babies!! xx
