  1. Hi All,

Here is Lorna's duck called Jill.

Jill is a beauty, she is a call duck.

Here are Faith, Hope and Charity - not sure which order!

    Dear Sara,

Can you please put some pictures on the photo gallery of the forum for me.
They are of my new ducks and also the apricots Ginger and Biscuit that I have and Biggles the white drake at the front.

My new ducks are starting to settle in OK, but there was a crisis this morning, one of the Indian Runners the white one managed to get in below pallets which were stacked with straw bales. They had to be all removed to get her out, I was trying to clean them out and had put them in the straw house to do that, they are still quite scared and timid, thankfully she was OK. I am calling the white runner Indy, the other brown one Yasmin and also the Khakis are Colleen and Erin. The photo of the new ducks is not very clear as it is just a mobile phone one.

    Thanks
    Lorna

Thanks for sharing these photos Lorna, what a lovely collection of ducks, hope the newbies are settling in and your older ones are getting used to them. Best Wishes

When I introduced my poor ducklings to the older ducks (actually their parents) Machine was chasing them (well poor Plum the only girl to bonk her :( ) and poor Pineapple-my youngest, I lost him! I was shouting for ages and I coudlnt hear him, I started to get very upset then I herd this little squeeking and he had squashed himself in a pile of wood and sticks to hide from Machine, and he was right in there scared stiff, poor little thing, I was so pleased to find him but completley baffled me how he got in as he certainly couldnt get out!! I dont know how they do it!! xxx

Lorna, I just love Jill's colors. Actually, they are all so beautiful.

Yes, they really can be daft. I couldn't believe it when I was first 'training' the ducks to come around to my front yard for food and there was a bunch of mallards who had found their way out there. Three or four of them were preoccupied with eating and didn't notice the others leave out the gate until they could see them on the other side of the fence going back over to the lake.

They apparently forgot how they had gotten in and looked so funny 'pacing' back and forth looking for a way out. It took them a few minutes of what looked like total exasperation, before one of them figured out that he could fly.

Suddenly all four flew up and over the fence and off to the lake on the other side of the road. It was so comical!

Hi Sara, Dottie, Mo and Mama and Laura,
Thanks for putting the photos on Sara and to everybody for their thoughts and comments. The new girls are going out for the first tomorrow to be join the rest, I kept them seperate to be sure they were healthy, they seem fine, they certainly are eating well. Hopefully in due course they will all start to lay.
Ducks are daft at times indeed.
    Will keep you updated.

    Best Wishes

    Thanks Mo,
things went OK, a bit of running around and quacking but they seemed to settle well. It was quite funny as the new ones did seem to want to follow the older residents around. They then stayed in at the 2 pampas grass bushes and had a good rest later on.

Ps Jonathan was on his best behaviour so far. They were just jostling at poor wee Jill once.
