This is Pebbles, Lucky, Sage, Maud and Ethel's first swim at 36 hours old - in a shallow storage box, pieces of shredded lettuce floating to entice them! Absolutely worn out after a few minutes swimming!!!!

  2. Hi rozza,

Love the photo of your ducklings and the names are great too. How do you distinguish them to give them names?
    Kind regards

    Hi Rozza

Lovely wee ducks. Just a word of warning. If you hatched them in an incubator or even under a hen they will have no waterproofing on thier down and if left on the water too long may become waterlogged. They will not be waterproof untill they are feathered.Just make sure they are dry and warm after thier swim. All the best with them.

  5. Hi all,

Roz has sent me an update aboput her ducklings so I thought I would let you know how they are getting on.

    Hi Sara

Just to update you on the ducklings, they have progressed to swimming in the
big bath now and are happily living in an old sand pit in our conservatory.
We have just had the idea of putting our son's 2 man tent up when they are a
bit bigger - it's got a waterproof bottom and we can have the fly doors
closed so they are contained but can still see out. We are intending to put
the sandpit in there together with their box of water and have just got to
rig up a ramp so they can get in and out when they like. Hopefully that'll
see them through until they can live outside in the pen which is now being
constructed! Will send you a picture when they move home!!
