I think they were definitely pulling your leg. Eggs won't last that long in a fridge. Maybe wait until Spring and think about hatching some out then.

im with Rachel someone is pulling your leg, if your not going to eat the eggs you may as well throw them away which seems a shame x

ok thanks, i didnt think it made sense but i figured it was worth a shot because i do feel like i am wasting them, and i dont know anyone who eats them. but she hasnt laid on them at all and she stopped laying 2 days ago.

And i dont even know if the eggs are fertile, i am just guessing they are, so i will toss them today and the momma duck can try again in the spring.

They are great to use in baking instead of hen eggs if your duck lays some more, but if I am correct they have to be used within 8 days if you are eating them? Good luck with the spring hatching. Karen x

Think duck eggs are good for at least two weeks if they have not been sat on. Use them they are really lovely eggs especially in cooking , cakes and omeletes and fried . I would truly like some eggs of any sort at the moment as none of mine are laying .Regards Mama.

if you live anywhere near me you are free to have them lol

Afraid not but the offer is very kind. Better luck next spring. Regards Mama

Duck eggs are good for 4 weeks in fact we have even used older ones and they have been perfectly fine - fetilised or unfertilised, the eating/cooking is the same.
If you don't use them yourself, I'm sure your neighbours would be pleased to have some or you could sell them. They can be boiled and fed to the ducks or given to any other pets. They are VERY tasty so it's a shame to throw them away.
We have also learned they can be helpful against certain cancers.Sarah LPosted 2 years ago # -
I totally back up everything Sarah says, the eggs do last quite a long time and are delicious!
I was offering some to colleagues at work, some people were very pleased, some wouldn't touch them and some said they probably wouldn't like them as they thought they were much stronger than chicken eggs. It's strange, I don't think they are so different, mind you, I haven't had chicken eggs for over a year now.RachelPosted 2 years ago # -
Hi All
One of my new ducks had laid her first egg. Well at least I believe it is her as the egg had some blood on the shell and was very small, almost the size of a call duck egg.
I am pleased, hope in time there will be many more to come.
I ask them today which one it was but I did not get an answer!Regards
