Hi,
We are hatching 40 duck eggs in an incubator so far 4 eggs have gone rotten. They have been in there for 30 days we had one hatch 2 days ago, the rest don't seem to be doing anything. Do we wait and see what happens and if so how long do we wait? My husband broke one open this morning, there was a duck inside but it was dead the egg inside was still wet and ok. They are Ruen ducks.

Hi Sheza,
Welcome to the farmingfriends forum. I usually leave eggs in the incubator up to 7 days after their due date as eggs can hatch late for a number of reasons.
I think rouen duck eggs take 28 days to hatch.
Can you hear any cheeping in any or feel any movement. i think that I would check for this. Have any of the other eggs pipped?
If you can hear cheeping, feel movement or some have pipped then you need to consider if you just leave them or give them a helping hand. I normally only help them if they have been pipped for a long time and I can still see movement.
Good luck with the eggs.
Kind regards

i would imagine its too late and something must have gone a bit awry with temperatures or moisture. Perhaps the ducks were trying to hatch and the shells were too tough for instance. It's vitally important to candle and check for movement and sounds too.
Take each out and listen, if theres any sound or sign of pip then assist.Sarah LPosted 2 years ago # -
Thank You. I can not hear any cheeping and there is no movement so I would say something must have gone wrong, maybe we will have more luck next time. As for the one duck that hatched it is going well.

Ah, well at least you have one little lovely. Try and post a pic as I haven't seen a rouen duckling , probably look like most others , fluffy and yellow . Regards Mama.

I had the same problem. all eggs that were set were fertile and then when rotten inside, perhaps it was the temprature that was incorrect
