  1. We're researching this often overlooked but fascinating bird. If you're not familiar with it yet then you could find it's visiting your bird table amongst the House Sparrows without you realising. We'd really like to know if it does visit your garden or farm. Please have a look at our Facts page at and if you see some let us know using the simple form at

Hi David we don't even have any house sparrows-none at all! I find it really strange as we have everything else, except greenfinches now ( some disease I think) but sparrows used to be everywhere!!

  4. Hi David,
I have visited your site before and subscribe to your newsletter as I am in East Yorkshire!
We do get sparrows and I will look to see if they are house or tree sparrows your pictures of both are helpful.
Welcome to the farmingfriends forum. If you would like to do a guest post on my main forum about tree sparrows with a link to your website then that would be great. another site you might like to contact is and Trisha who runs the site may have seen some tree sparrows as she is also located in East Yorkshire.
I have just checked my photos and I do have tree sparrows in my garden. See some photos here
    Kind regards

  5. Hi
Like Yanky we don't have any house sparrows - but we do get 20 or more tree sparrows on the bird table quite regularly. They have little black patches, like cheeks, & are very sociable!
