Hi
Can anyone tell me when you bake a chocolate cake how to keep it from coming out too dry. I am not able to bake much at all as I would like but I would be interested to know. Last time I baked a chocolate cake it was using a Delia Smith recipe which was from her 'how to cheat at cooking book', it was nice but I felt a bit dry.

depends what was in the recipe, I use a normal victoria sandwich recipe and subsitute some flour with cocoa powder then add a good dolop of chocolate spread

My favourite is a nigella one which is the chocolate fudge cake (i think). It has corn oil, sour cream and water in it and stays moist for days. Sounds difficult to make but is easier than it sounds. My smallies love it and so do the adults. Happy baking!

I also use a recipe for Victoria sponge. When folding in the flour add some water so the mix is slightly runny. I love choc cake :)

not water unless you are using packet mix, if anything abit of milk Lorna x
I would use milk to soften mixes too.. makes them lighter and more moist I think. Happy baking Lorna!
