mallards just started laying can i eat them

    my mallard has just laid two eggs, today and yesterday,i have 1 female and two male one that is pure white.can they be eaten with there being males or should i leave them,would they hatch? ive had them from ducklings this first time they laid.any advise helpfull

    Yes you can eat them and no they won't hatch unless they are brooded by the female.
    If one is white then it's not a mallard, but may be a white campbell or X with one - unless they are very small in which case may be a call duck.

    hi i am pretty sure its a white mallard,i had them from ducklings from a farmer that breeds mallards for shooting he said every now and then he gets white ones.take a look at the you tube link its a video of my ducks.thanks for the reply

    Hi , Lovely film to watch ,think you have females and one male .The white may be a throw back from earlier genes but have never heard of it Take a look at the link and let us know what you think. Mallards may and do fly away as they are a light breed , hope yours don't . Regards Mama

    Just with regards to flying I have one mallard drake with my other ducks and he was rescued as a duckling from a dogs mouth! Anyway he sometimes flies over the fields on our farm if frightened but then will soon come back to the hand that feeds him and the other ducks who are hime friends and breeding partners!
    Enjoyed watching your ducks enjoy their pond! Your rabbit is lovely too.
    Not sure if the white one is a mallard. I know that guinea fowl that re not white can sometimes hatch a white guinea fowl!
