Duck egg during incubation - Day 23/24

(2 posts)

  1. Hi all,

I received an email from Denise asking about a duck egg she is incubating.

"I have a 23 or 24 day old duck egg.I have been keeping it warm and trying to keep the humidity up also.Everything looked like it was ok until today. The egg is showing a little redness and it has developed a slight order. Has it died? Denise"

If anyone has any advice for Denise then that would be great as I don't have much experience with candling duck eggs.

    Kind regards

Iam no expert as i just started but i did a duck egg quit on me. And the smell was ...welll there was no denying it. you could smell it thru the incubator. And when i picked up each egg to smell, when i got to that one, there was also no denying which one it was. But when i first started to smell it, i left it a little longer till it got a little stronger just so i absolutely knew which egg it was.
i don't know how much help that wasbut, as far as the redness i personally have not experienced that yet.
