Thinking of introducing Guinea Fowl to my ever growing stock of poultry. Not knowing much about them can anyone tell me if they are regular egg layers (like hens) or just lay a few eggs once or twice a year?

  4. Hi Marali,
I have guinea fowl and they start to lay here in the UK from April until about September and they will usually lay an egg everyday or every other day. The eggs are smaller than hen or duck eggs but bigger than a quail egg, but because my guinea fowl free range and eat alot of grass the yolks are very yellowy orange and therefore very rich and tasty. The shells on the eggs are very hard.
I keep guinea fowl, hens, ducks and quail and guinea fowl eggs are my favourite.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards

  6. Hi Mark,
I kept saddleback pigs for a few years which was brilliant. My two sows had a few litters and it was a real joy watching the farrowing and raising the piglets.
All the best with the pigs.
    Kind regards
