Hi Update on my Indian Runners, lost one last spring to fox waited for the other two to go the same way as I want to keep them free range, but all was well, so bought two one yr old ducks this spring. (Makes you realise how tame our originals are, the new ones are so skitty!) Anyway, old duck 4yrs old? is not laying she laid about 3 eggs so far this year, new ducks lay every day good as gold in duck house nest. Old duck has exhibited male behaviour over one of the new ducks, is she showing dominance or have all the hormones gone strange!? Is this why she is not laying?

  2. Hi Sharon I would guess at it being a dominance issue, as for her not laying eggs, I have no experience as mine are only just a year old and being khaki campbells do lay all year, maybe there's more info here

  4. Hi Sharon,
I think that she will be making sure they know she is still top of the pecking order. I have a motley crew of ducks and drakes and find that the runner breed is very tame, forward and not shy, some might say even bossy but in a lovely way!!!
    Kind regards
