I posted a few days ago that I could see veins in the egg at day 26, I know it isn't normal to see them so late, but this morning the egg hatched.
I just need to ask how long should I keep him in the incubator, and when does he need water?

Oh thats wonderful Gareth!! Congratulations, leave him in the incubator just as it was for 24 hrs until he is fluffy and alert, then you can pop in in a brooder box (draft free box with a lamp above) with some crumb and water, make sure he cant drown in the water! He should be just fine! Well done :o)
OK, thanks, I got a water feeder thing so he can just put his bill in and I got some un-medicated chick feed.
I need to go buy the next food for him, What food do I need and when do I give it to him? : )
First time hatching a duckling.
thx
Gareth
Hi Gareth,
congratulations on the duckling. You need to get chick crumbs or waterfowl crumbs for the duckling. Also make sure that the floor of the brooder isn't slippy so that the ducklings legs don't get splayed.
You could put an old towel down that can be easily washed.
Kind regards

Get growers pellets, it should state on the bag when to give them that, I usually wet the chick crumb for the first 3 weeks then give it to them dry to get used to dry food, then when they are big enough to eat other things give them growers, then layers (boys can eat this too-it wont make them lay eggs dont worry!) or finishers instead of layers if its a table bird.
Take a piccie of your new duckie!!
ok, thanks, I will get the food soon, but does he need water now?
Cos I cant fit the water feeder in the incubator, so I would need to move him to the brooder pen.
Just give him a few drops of water on his beak to drink then he will need water at all times when he is in the brooder - right next to his food or feed the crumbs in water like a sloppy mush.
Perhaps the veins you saw were the yolk sac. Glad it's hatched ok.
He wont need water for the first 24hrs, but like Sarah says put some drops on his beak, once he is in the water after the 24hrs, you will never stop him! Water everywhere! My ducks soak me all the time, haha.
Thanks for the advice, he is in the brooder, sloppy mush all over the place :P
No pics yet.
lol lovely!
