Hi Ben,
My friend used this type of electric netting to stop foxes getting into her hen run area. Her hens were locked in a hut at night but had this around the area and it worked. You will need to make sure they can't dig under it.
The hens would put themselves away at night and she would then go and lock them up very late at night and she didn't have any casualties to the fox.
kind regards

Hi Ben, yes we have some of this it works well. The mistake we made though was charging up the the battery one day, then also forgot to lock the hen houses. The one time this happened and we lost 30 chickens. It was heart breaking, especially when you know it's your own fault. We should have got a spare battery, so that when one was on charge, the other was powering the fence, or go for one off the mains if you can. It goes to show that the fox probably does a nightly check to see if there are any possibilities and takes them when it can,

Crack that voltage up and frazzle that fox! Get 10 batteries on the fence!! *evil laugh* sorry but I really hate foxes
What worries me about a mains energiser is if there is a power cut and the fence goes down. Two batteries or a mains one with battery backup would be the answer. I will have to investigate.
I've heard that foxes can jump pretty well so making sure there is nothing near by for them to get some extra height is probably wise.
