Hi, we currently have 12 quail in an enclosure, and think the majority are male. If we buy some fertile eggs and hatch them out can we put them in beside the quail we already have?

hello I don't have quail but do keep ducks, if you say you think the majority are male im assuming they are to young to sex yet and i'm assuming you're asking this because you would like more females, if this is the case my advice would be to either wait until you're sure of the sex or just go and buy females, to incubate eggs would take the very high risk of haveing even more males,

Hi S Brown,
You can mix different groups of quail but they will need careful introducing, usually when it is night and they are more docile. You can keep them side by side for a while till they get used to each other. http://farmingfriends.com/mixing-quail-of-different-ages/
I would wait to see on their gender, they will be mature by 6-8 weeks old and you will be able to tell males and females easily if they are japanese quail. http://farmingfriends.com/quail-gender-identification/ Once you know that as Mo says you could just buy in more females. It depends if you want the experience of hatching your own, but as Mo says you may get more males.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.
Kind regards
