Hi,
i found this great website and also saw your efforts of helping others and i truly appreciate it.
I have a question too..
I recently bought an incubator with 2 60w bulbs in it with a thermostat but it doesnot have a fan instead it has 4 holes for vent two at the back of the incubator and two under it, I got a thermometer along with it a wooden one. IS THIS INCUBATOR CORRECT??

Hi Suresh,
From my experience all incubators seem to be different and everyone has different experiences with them. As long as you can get your incubator to the correct temperature and humidity for the eggs you are hatching then I would say it should be ok.
Kind regards

Thats the issue i am having, i cant seem to adjust the temperature it becomes too hot, its got two 60watts bulbs but i took out one of them because of the increasing temperature but still its very difficult to get it to the correct temp keeps on increasing..
I am thinking of getting 20watts bulbs(if i found them) for it maybe than it will be adjusted properly.Posted 1 year ago # -
Hi Suresh,
I wonder if you raise the humodity in the incubator or in the room your incubator is in this may help to bring the temp down becuase I have read that that low humidity is caused by high temperatures which dry out the water trays in the incubator and help the humidity in the atmosphere evaporate. So if you could increase the humidity then this may bring the temp down. Maybe you could adjust the humidity and temp in the room and this will help the incubator temp.
I always find it hard getting the right humidity and temp.
Hope you can get it sorted.
kind regards

Hello Sara,
I did what you told me to, and the temp is now in control doesn't seem to increase from more than 102 Fahrenheit but i dont know what temp the humidity is cause i dont have a hygrometer but i filled the water tray according to the instructions that came with the incubator. My question for now is that, i am turning the eggs 3 to 4 times a day but i cant do it at the same time everyday is it ok if i do it whenever i get the time??
Thankx alot for your help:)

Hi Suresh,
Glad the temp is improving. I usually have an automatic turner in my incubator so it will turn at regular times but I don't always get 100% hatches. I wonder whether a bird turns them at the same time each day? I don't know the answer to this I think the important thing is that they are being turned.
I would have thought if you can turn them first thing in the morning and then last thing at night then whenever else you get the chance this would be fairly regular.
Good luck with the hatch.
Kind regards

Hey all,
Finally the chicks are out of the eggs, only 6 of them out of 19 eggs hatched yet.
And their also 3 days earlier.Posted 1 year ago # -

Thankx Mama.. I am waiting for some one to tell me what should i feed em and how ..

Hi suresh, Feed the quail chicks chick crumbs and put marbles on pebbles in the water container so that they don't drown. Keep them in the incubator for 24 housrs, until they have fluffed up and then transfer them to a brooder with a heat lamp and flooring they won't slip on, eg towelling
Good luck with the rest of the hatch.
Kind regards

Thankyou Sara. I was also thinking of feeding them the millet seeds the ones that finches eat.
And I also needed to know, can i use a Styrofoam/Thermocol box for the brooder (as i am short on time have to get them into the brooder within 24 hours and they also hatched earlier as i planned)
and will a 100watts bulb be enough for them??Posted 1 year ago #
