hi everyone, ive got 5 miniature silver appleyards sitting under my broody pekin bantam. my first one hatched last night, the 2nd egg not has a crack and a small hole in but seems to be taking much longer. you can hear the duckling tapping inside the shell and chirping, should i intervene?

oooh mini appleyards, i have one of those!! i would have thought mummy duck would help it but i have no experience with hatching eggs xx im sure someone else will be along soon x

the eggs are under my broody chicken not under mommy duck. x

Hi, no don't do anything yet. Mummy should do it all the only worry is hens are not as moist as mummy ducks , have you been spraying the eggs with water when she was off the nest ? Mama

no not been misting the eggs, there are definately 2 good eggs, not sure about the other 3. is it too late to start misting?

It might be to late , when the hen comes off in the morning spray with tepid water , won't do any harm and just may help save a few eggs . Mama
