Ok, I have 40 young chickens that are roughly 3 months old, they were vaccinated for Mareks when we purchased them from the hatchery, but about 3 weeks ago we found one that seemed to have hurt her leg (we thought from falling off the roost) but in a few days she was having trouble getting around and wouldn't put any weight on that foot. We decided to isolate her in a small cage so the others wouldn't run over her, well after a couple days in isolation she started stretching her leg out and then the other one started going forward, she cannot move them anymore. so my question is does anyone know if a way to help her? or should we just end her suffering, she doesn't seem to be eating, not sure about drinking. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Hi Ivy
That sounds terrible - poor you and your chicken! I am afraid I have no advice for you, but know some more knowledgeable hen owners will be able to assist.
Good luck!

Hi Ivy,
I think I would get the advice of a vet. I have just read this article and it says there is no treatment. http://www.thepoultrysite.com/diseaseinfo/90/mareks-disease
I hope that your hen will be ok.
kind regards
