  1. hello all, some of you will remember the rough times Candy had when she first began laying eggs last year, most double yolkers, do you think we will go through all that again when she starts to lay again after this moult and if so is there something I can feed her to help make it easier for her, dread the thought of going through that again x

  2. Hi Mo,
I know birds sometimes have trouble with eggs when they first start to lay and then when they get older but would have thought that she will be ok when she comes back into lay. Fingers crossed.
    Best wishes

Mo, my ducks used to lay funny eggs when they first started to lay, but their eggs have been perfect when they finish moulting so I hope your Candy will be the same and have no problems. Plum had a terrible moult her wings looked very painful, she is looking much nicer now! Bless. x

Hi Mo.. Same as Laura for me.. used to have eye watering large eggs when they first began to lay but no issues now, even after moulting. I have my fingers crossed you experience the same. xx

  7. pleased to report Candy is laying again and normal sized ones to, her first yesterday though was a really dark shell doesnt look nice at all but todays looks ok,
Sugar, this week three days in a row decided to lay her eggs under bushes and sit on them for hours silly girl, well she has started to moult now and no egg from her yesterday, so far Toffee is still laying so seems I have struck lucky with my girls and not as yet had a day with no eggs at all

as both boys are moulting at the moment and seem calm last night about half an hour before bed time I decided to try all 5 of them together, it was a lovely sight...well for a few mins then both boys started chasing each others girls, the girls were haveing none of it then a fight broke out with the boys and so the seperation continues for now maybe for ever :(

Hi Mo, We are still having only one egg per day - we think it's Bertha as they are large and when she laid the first one, it had a slightly darker waxy coating too. This does scrape off so is still good to use.
I had a dream last night that I found TWO eggs in the shed. lol
