Hello there, still a newby an have a question

im just incubatin my second lot of quail 9this time chinese painted) The last time i incubated when they started to hatch and scurry around they disturbed the other eggs trying to hatch, i know im not suposed to open the incubator in the last two days but do you think i should move the eggs that have pipped to the brooder to finish hatching so they dont disturb the later ones hatching?

want the best for my brood

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck then it could be a cow doing a duck impersonation.

  2. BIG NO they need the temperature and humidity of the incubator to help them out of the shells, and need to saty there for about 24 hours after the hatch as well, they cant scrurry round to much and infact may help the others to hatch by cheeping to them and helping peck away the shell its self

  3. Hi Crazychick, No don't move the pipped eggs, waittil the quail have hatched and they can stay in the incubator for up to 24 hours before going to the brooder. they need to be fluffed up before going to brooder. I only open the incubator before they all have hatched if I have to help if one has been pipped for a long time and still alive but not getting out of shell on own. Quail seem to hatch together, they apparently talk to each other in the shell and synchronise their hatch, although you can get the odd one early or late.
    Good luck with the hatch.
    Kind regards
