Introducing chicks to adults

Hi, at what age is it safe for young chicks to be put in with the adults? There are the two mums and a rooster in our big pen. I'm worried that the rooster might attack his children. When they were starting to hatch the rooster was breaking the eggs and killing the chicks so I had to remove him. They are silkies and are about 8 weeks old so about half adult size.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ursula
We have had our chicks alongside our hens since birth, but separated by fencing. They are now about 12 weeks old and we are integrating with the big hens for a few hours each day. Other than the normal pecking order going on, they now all seem to be ok together. Good luck!

Thanks, I'll keep them separate for a bit longer and try them for a few hours as you suggested, I'll be ready to remove the rooster if he causes trouble!
