my eggs are hatching and all chicks are the usual tan with black stripes but one is just tan [yello] all over? can anybody please tell me why.

Hi Fred,
I am not sure why this is. I think it has something to do with the genes in the male and female quail that produced the egg and the dominant genes they have. I know this is the case for guinea fowl.
I know with the brown japanese quail the chest of the male is usually redder than the females and the female's breast tends to be dappled with more black stripes/dashes.
