    Hi everyone,

advice please, last year Fiona my young call duck deserted her eggs shortly before hatching and just went back to normal with no signs of being broody. She was very young and I had to hand raise the babies indoors. This year she is more dedicated and very broody sitting on a few eggs.Frankie has stayed very devoted to her and will sit for hours in the house next to her just coming out into the avery for the occasional feed and bath. Each evening I let him out for a fly around the valley although before flying he inspects the old duck house nest by the old swimming pool, also the hens nest, even sitting on the eggs briefly and pulling the nest around just like the female does.He then goes back to Fiona for the night.Question? I would like to leave them together if Fiona manages to hatch any babies, the avery is a good size and there are two little houses attached both accessable from the run.Has anyone successfully kept duck, drake and babies together after hatching please?

    Hi Minty.
I have left my campbell drake with his females when nesting. The first time there were 2 females and the one drake and they all helped and stayed together from start to finish and beyond. For my last batch, my broody stayed in her corner in the group's shed with all the other ducks and managed perfectly well with all the others coming and going.
    Good luck with it all.
you may contact me via facebook if you want to view some photos and videos of the family together.
