Hi, I am considering purchasing two Khaki Campbell ducks for egg-laying (I want to sell the eggs at my local farmer's market). I know they lay a lot, which means they probably eat more. Does anyone know how much they would eat per day/per bird in pounds? I need to know if this would be a profitable venture. Thanks! :)

  2. hello Katalan as a general guide each duck will eat about 150grams per day of a layer pellet feed this can be more or less depending on how much natural food they can find by forageing
yes khakis are good layers on average up to 350 eggs per year, per duck, I have 3 khakis and 3 white campbells which lay all year, there are times when they will not lay, sometimes during a moult and sometimes for what seems no reason at all
as the eggs you sell at market should be really fresh with 2 girls you will only have up to 14 eggs per week so by the time you have taken into account the cost of safe houseing feed bedding etc I doubt you will make any money at all from just 2 ducks
