Hi Yan,
Your friend needs to have a look at the bird trader website. http://www.birdtrader.co.uk/birds/doves-for-sale/
Hope they find what they are looking for.
Kind regards

Thanks Sara I'll forward that on to her.

Hi Yan
We got ours from someone else at the other end of the village who wanted to reduce their numbers - as they do muliply. It may be worth asking around...

Thanks TopVeg. Wish I could have got mine to multiply---they were all picked off by the sparrowhawk & I gave the last one away to someone who kept them in an aviary as I couldn't bear it!! This friend had over 50 birds & then the farmer shot them so she wants to start again. I've just given up!

Yan - poor you - no wonder you have given up. Sparrow hawks are impossible to deal with, so frustrating. We had over 20 collared doves - & the S/H took them all in just a few days - now we have none!

Hi Yan,
We can't get rid of our white pigeons. Wish the s/h would take them as they make such a mess. Most of these 'white doves' are pigeons. If your friend wants to try and catch ours they are welcome to them. We are E. Sussex

Hi Sallie
It's really strange how that happens. The farm down the road 's white doves are the same--- multiplying in force. I think it helps if you keep them in a shed where they can just fly in & out & get some protection. Mine were in a dovecote so they were exposed on my roof all day. Thanks for the offer of the doves --I'll email my friend & you can see if you're anywhere near each other!

Oh dear Sallie---got it wrong she lives in Surrey (my geography is hopeless!) but she says she could maybe come to E. Surrey to get them! She doesn't need them quite yet but maybe a couple of months. Would that be ok?

Thanks Sarah, I passed all this on. As I say she doesn't need them immediately but she can look & see

Hi Yanky
Perhaps you should also send her sallie's warning - "they make such a mess". My Dad always said they were 'filthy things!'Posted 6 months ago # -
Hi Yan,
Sorry haven't had time to visit forum for a bit. Will probably have got rid of our shortly as they really are filthy, disease carrying things. Will get Freddie to pop them off with his air rifle!Had a friend who got a pair years ago as a present and she ended up having to have them culled by a pest controller as they bred like mad and ended up in the stables covering everything, including horses, in poo! Another friend had them in her stable and, when she cleared out the overhangs in the stables, got that nasty lung disease, aspergillosis. She is still on huge steroid doses 15 years on. Don't recommend anyone having them if they have access to any indoor buildings where they can roost and breed.
Sorry to be so negative but have only have bad experiences of the ruddy things.
Best wishes
