Hello, my husband and I purchased 16 baby pharaoh quail and 14 chickens in hopes of breeding for eggs as well as meet. We both grew up on ranches but never raised poultry!! I hope to learn alot from this forum!!

    Sara @ farmingfriends,

I was wondering when the quail lay their first eggs is it ok to incubate the first ones. If so how long after they lay do i have before I can put them in the incubator.

  4. Hi foreverfarm,
I wouldn't tend to incubate the first they lsy asthey may not be fertile I usually give them a few weeks of laying before I would start to incubate just to make sure they are fertile.
Once you decide to incubate the eggs, you can collect them and store them for up to 7 days before incubating although the sooner you incubate the better. The eggs should be stored at an angle with the pointed end down and turned 3 or 4 times a day. http://farmingfriends.com/storing-quail-eggs-for-incubation/
    Kind regards
