LAVENDER BANTAM ARACUNA HAS EXESS SKIN ON ITS BUM?

    HI ALL I HAVE A NEW HATCHLING WITH A SORT OF DROOPY EXESS SKIN ON ITS BUM/BACK. APART FROM THAT IT IA HEALTHY! IT WAS FROM A SHIPPED EGG IF THAT HELPS?

    Is it the yolk sac which feed the bird whilst its still in the egg?
    Is it a prolapse of the vent, although this usually occurs when birds are older and egg laying?
    Be careful that the hatchling doesn't get pasted up which occurs with guinea fowl keets where the dropping attach to the bottom area. http://farmingfriends.com/guinea-fowl-keets-pasting-up/
    I hope the chick gets sorted and grows well.

    HI THERE THANKS FOR THE REPLY ITS NOT THE YOLK SAC, BUT THEIR IS DROPPINGS ON HIM. WHAT SHOULD I USE TO CLEAN THIS?

  4. Hi Chuggs,
    I would use some warm water and a soft cloth or cotton wool. Make sure the area is dry afterwards or the droppings will stick to the wet feathers.
