One of my Pekin bantam chicks has been born and has a big soft red lump where it's belly button is, we have tried to gently see of it will go back in, but it won't. It is in the incubator. Any ideas? Thanks :(

There are some poultry sites on facebook where someone had this problem, can't remember what the site was called but if you try to find them something useful is sure to come up if no-one can help you here.

I've looked, on back yard chickens they said to just leave it, I've now separated it and will see of it improves

this happens when the egg sac comes away too quickly before the yolk has been absorbed into the chick or duckling on hatching. This can happen if you assist in removing some shell before it is ready, but siblings can also cause it. It should absorb on its own within 1-3 days.
