    Hi All
For those of you who have expressed concern over our missing mallard, Darcy flew in today after an absence of 5 weeks. Jemima immediately went over to see him, the ducklings were very relaxed with him, and after a feed Jemima and Darcy flew off together just like old times. What a relief!!!

Thank goodness for that Ken. Even though they are wild mallards you still get attached to them, don't you ?

    Hi All
Thanks for your comments. Lesley and I are sooooooo relieved to see him again! Jemima and Darcy are now going back and forth to their "other pond" where we think they live for the other 9 months of the year (only a few minutes flying time away).
The remaining 9 ducklings have now reached the "terrible teens" stage where they are into everything, look scruffy, push mum out of the way to get the food, and are trashing the pond. It's a constant battle to keep them out of the paddling pool where I am temporarily keeping the goldfish for their own safety.
I have some pictures which I will ask Sara to put on the site when she gets some time.
    Regards, Ken

  9. Hi Ken,
What a relief so pleased Mr Darcy is back, that naughty drake, although we are all thinking he has been naughty and yet he may have had an ordeal or adventure to contend with before he could be reunited with you and Jemima.
I look forward to seeing the photos.
    Best Wishes

    Hi Mama, Hi Sara
As you say Sara, he could have been through some ordeal so I can't be too critical of him. He does look in good shape though, and he was back on form this morning when he flew in at 05.30 demanding that Jemima comes out to play!
My daughter, Sarah, comes home from Germany for some leave today so we get to have Rocky dog for a week. So looking forward to it. It will be interesting to see how he gets on with the now much older ducklings. I will take some pictures and add them to the ones I will be sending to you Sara.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. (Mama, sounds like you need it to recover!!!)
    Kind regards
    Ken
