Hi everyone, I have a mountain of ripe Mulberrys . What can I do with them apart from freezing or making jam which is not an option as I have so much other fruit. Hope you can help. The Golden Oriole is helping out as are the other birds but they are so delicious , I don't want to waste them. Regards Mama.

Hi Sarah, Thanks for the ideas, they all look good but can not find a mousse recipe on google. We too have blackcurrants, strawberries ,gooseberries and rasps plus plums , apples , pears, and figs, not all at he same time of course but within weeks.I would really like to keep them in some way to give to our family and friends when they are here as most people have never tasted them , nor had we until we planted a tree 3yrs ago , as a shade tree. They do fruit for quite a long period , several weeks in fact. Your time will come. If I could send you some I would ,with pleasure. Regards Mama.

Hi Mo, Lovely to speak. That sounds really good as I can use all sorts of stuff and maybe freeze it. Just off to bed as it is nearly midnight and I might turn onto a pumpkin, ha ha Mama. xx.

  8. Hi all

Mulberry jam is a must - quite delicious - & the first thing to make with mulberries. Then there is mulberry gin, mulberry muffins, mulberry smoothies, mulberry crumble. Wonderful berries - terrific ice-cream!

Hi topveg, Do you have a simple recipe for the jam as I cannot use pectin so would have to use another fruit with the mulberrys or lemon juice. thanks ,Mama

  10. Hi

We use apples to get the mulberries to set. HTH!!

    Mulberry Jam:
In preserving pan, simmer 3lb ripe mulberries in their own juice till tender, In another pan simmer one pound apples (peeled, cored & sliced)in a very little water, till soft. Add soft apples to cooked mulberries. Add 3.5 lb sugar & stir till dissolved. Return to heat, bring to boil & boil rapidly till setting point reached. Pour into warmed jars.
