Erm....My friend gave me some "White Sussex Chicken Eggs" They have all hatched out black with a white/cream spot on the backs of their heads and one on their bum/belly. I have googled white sussex chicks and they are all white!!! Why would mine be black? The eggs they hatched out of were pure white. They are all identical colouring! Anyone else got any experience in White Sussex chickens or just Sussex chickens? I love them the same, im not a chicken racist, just curious to know what the little fellas are!!
Thank you for your help

white sussex hens can have black/grey heads and tails. (which i thought were light sussex) Perhaps the chicks lose some of their black as they grow up? What do i know i have ducks!
i googled too and came up with white and black and white!http://sallygardens.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/06/20/dsc02765.jpg

Humm maybe? I have googled them and their babies are white.....very very different to black ones. Maybe we shall just have to wait until they grow up. They are cute little things though (hang on, I think I have said that about everything!!! hee hee)
