Oh Sarah, What lovely pic, are you going to leave them all in the nest? Really hope at least some are viable. Take a look please at my last comment on candling. Mama

Hi Sarah
What a great nest of eggs! The duck looks beautiful, she is some mother when she can sit all those eggs. She does indeed remind me of a larger version of my little white call ducks, like you said before.
You will be busy taking care of all the ducklings when they hatch!!Best Wishes
Ps for Sara (admin), did the photo I sent of Jill not work?

Great pics Sarah, the eggs look so cosy, much nicer than my clinical rows in the incubator! She is very like my white campbells, how old is she?

the picture is from two weeks ago, now the nest is like a castle and loads of down covering them when she comes out.
Lorna - Duck Mum takes care of them all perfectly - including keeping them as far away from us as possible, so there is very little to do.
Rachel - Mattie came to us earlier in the year, needing a new home - supposedly under a year old but we think she may be a little older as she has a lot of spotting on her beak. shes been trying to nest for ages so we thought we'd let her have a go.
She's proving a fantastic brooder.

Fab Sarah , Here's hoping . lots of luck to Mattie and you. Mama.

Hi Sarah,
What great pictures, there seems to be 15 eggs there. That will be some family.
She looks awfully like my Aylesbury's I didn't know that the spotting on the beak can be a sign of there age?
Good luck Janet

Hi Janet, I am not sure yours are true Aylesburys, as I said they should have very pink or flesh coloured beaks and not orange as mine had . Please send some pics . That would be nice . Mama
Goose GirlPosted 2 years ago # -
Hi Janet, she is a white campbell, the males of which have bright orange beaks and legs (i have posted a photo) and the females beaks go more yellowy as they mature and then start to get spots about 9 months of age, Mama is right that Aylesburys have pinkish beige beaks and are a much larger and heavier bird altogether.

Funnily enough Sarah, I have started noticing spots on our white campbells beaks and I was going to ask you if this is normal. So you have answered that question for me, you must be psychic!
