Can cows eat courgettes, I have lots of oversized courgettes this year, It seem a shame to put them on the compost heap if the cows will eat them.

I dont know if cows will eat them im afraid, but ducks and geese absolutely love them, sliced or shredded or whole to nibble at.

Hi Debbie,
We have beef cattle and feed them fodder beet, milled barley, silage, grass and potatoes at different times of the year. I have asked my husband as he went to ag college and did animal nutrition. He is not sure whether there is anything in courgettes that would upset the cattles digestive system. Sorry can't be more helpful, although have you tried making courgette chutney with the excess ones and it doesn't matter if they are big http://farmingfriends.com/courgette-and-green-tomato-chutney/

A friend gave me some marrow jam - must say it did not go down very well with the family!
