Piglet Photos

I received a comment from Jane requesting some photos of the piglets, so here they are but sssh, don’t wake them!

I couldn’t resist these photos of the sleeping piglets snuggled up to the sow. What a cute and cosy sight!

The piglets are now 5 weeks old and are about to be weaned from their mothers. They are eating creep feed and it’s a bit of a rugby scrum when I feed the sows as the piglets want a piece of the action too!!

  1. Thanks Sara. What a very contented group they look! I didn’t realise you would have more than one sow in with the litter… or are their two litters? Anyway, good luck with the weaning!

  2. Hi Jane, Yes they certainly look contented. There are two litters in the pigstye. Cagney has 6 piglets and Lacy has 9 piglets. cagney and Lacy are sisters so they get on well and we thought it would be best to get them all together as soon as possible to avoid fighting and I am pleased to say that this has worked.

  4. Sara, I was hoping you would post more photos of the piglets too, I am going to show them to my dad, he will be very interested. I love this breed, we only ever had pink pigs on our farm, it was so long ago I can’t remember what the breed was! x

  5. Hi Melissa,
My husband caught the pig families relaxing and thought he’d capture the moment on camera. I’m glad he did.
Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

    Hi Louise,
I hope that it brings back fond memories for your dad. Yes I really like the saddleback breed. I think that they have a nice nature as well. I am going to enjoy getting to know my piglets and taming them alittle, although when it is time for them to go I won’t want them too! thanks for this comment and your visit.
