I have just received an email to say it’s WORLD SPARROW DAY (20th March 2011).
World Sparrow Day helps raise public awareness about the decline of the house sparrow and throw light on the problems faced by the species in its daily fight for survival.

David at treesparrow.com has initiated a project in the Claro area of North Yorkshire to place 300 nest boxes for Tree Sparrows throughout the area. The project is very keen to hear from the farming and rural communities if they see Tree Sparrows on their land or in their gardens.

We get alot of sparrows in our garden but I was unsure of the difference between the house sparrow and the tree sparrow.
One of my forum readers gave me this information:
“Tree sparrows are smaller than house sparrows and have a completely brown head.” Campbell Ridge
